Meet The Plant Ecologist
Gabriella de Souza is a plant ecologist and botanical jewelry designer, whose creations are deeply rooted in her passion for nature and ecology. Native to Wilmington, North Carolina, Gabriella's unique body of work captures the beauty of the local flora through her one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces.
She meticulously cultivates, presses, and preserves each specimen, imbuing every piece with an essence of nature. This collection is a tribute to the native plants of North Carolina, underlining their significance and promoting their conservation.
Gabriella's jewelry, preserved in high-quality resin, merges scientific expertise with artistic vision. Through her work, Gabriella seeks to connect people with nature in an intimate and personal way, allowing the wearers to carry a piece of nature with them wherever they go.
A passionate educator, Gabriella holds a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Sciences and a Master of Science in Biology from UNC Wilmington. With more than a decade of experience in plant science, she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge about sustainable and aesthetically pleasing plant environments.

My favorite part of the workshop was actually making the arrangement and being creative! Gabriella is an amazing teacher. Really enjoyed her flower pressing class. She had an abundant amount of flowers and leaves to choose from right at our fingertips and was readily available if we had any questions.
